my final school year at marhagi secondary school

my final school year at Marhagi secondary school, Mpumalanga.

The school is situated in a small area around Mpumalanga called verina. the area is not a urban area but it is a rural area that is still developing,  Verina was once a farm that was owned by a farmer during the apartheid era and it is also named after that farmer. The area has no minerals such as diamonds, gold and any other mineral that have been yet found. The nearest town is witbank which is known for its coal mine and big malls. Witbank is well known all over South Africa.

My matric subjects are mathematics literacy, geography, consumer studies, tourism, isiNdebele, English first additional, life oration. The subject that I loved at school was tourism and English, I really loved these subjects because they are the subjects I performed good at and I found a big problem with maths that’s why I ended up doing maths lit in grade 12 and I tried my level best at it but still couldn’t manage till I took a few extra classes that at least helped me to manage but not at my level best.

Technology was not that much used at my school but we had a computer lab where I think technology was used and the lab was for only grade 12 so one will only get to use the computers during his final year at the school, other devices like cell phones and laptops where not allowed at the school because of the schools code of conduct.

  1. You made it boy, evethough you were struggling with maths you manage to pick your self up and make it a point that you succeed at the end . You will be a good teacher. I hope your perseverance last longer because your learners will need it.

    1. Thanks Ivan am still in the process of learning and I don't think learning should end here at UMP but also go above that even when we are qualified teachers we will learn new things in class which will grow our knowledge and the mind set...at the end I will remain a student or learn till I die

  2. The banning of devices like cellphone and laptops at schools is a serious issue, because these devices can help to improve academic performances and the process of learning can be made easier. How did you manage to do your Grade 11's assignment? since you were only allowed to use computers in Grade 12 at your school? Not allowing learners to use cellphones or laptops at school for the purposes of learning should be reconsidered, this is total ignorance. More computers are needed in schools, so that every learner can have access to the internet.

  3. The main point is you even made it with a bachelors degree that got you here today. But the thought of only allowing senior students to use a computer lab is not fair at all, because starting at an early age to use a computer really benefit students at the end of the day.
